Hawk Athletics

On behalf of the GRHS Athletic Department, welcome to Gila Ridge High School.

At Gila Ridge High School, we're excited about athletics. We have some great programs for our Hawks and invite you to participate in any way you can. Whether you're part of a team or in the crowd, we appreciate you. We encourage our students to get involved in areas of interest, develop talents, gain confidences, and learn lifelong skills. Gila Ridge opened its doors in 2007, and since then we’ve earned numerous region championships as well as several state appearances from several of our teams.

Our Campus

The athletic office is located in the administration building near the attendance and registration offices. Veteran’s Memorial Stadium seats over 5,000 people and is the site for football, soccer games, and track events. The fieldhouse is the home for all GRHS indoor athletic events including boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and volleyball games with seating capacity of 1,200. In addition, our baseball and softball teams have separate stadiums and practice fields. GRHS students have access to two weight rooms, both located next to the fieldhouse.

Eligibility Standards

We will use marking period grades to determine eligibility. If we determine students to be academically ineligible at the end of a grading period, they shall remain ineligible until they meet the eligibility requirements. The minimum ineligibility period is one full calendar week while school is in session. Following the one week of ineligibility, we will check ineligible students weekly for academic progress, and they shall become eligible the following Monday upon passing all classes. We strongly encourage students who are ineligible to attend academic support programs.

Athletic Clearance

Please present your birth certificate and clearance packet with your parent signature(s) to the athletic office secretary to obtain a copy of your clearance card. You must obtain a clearance card for each sport. Upon obtaining clearance, you must present your clearance card to your coach to be cleared to participate. A student must have a physical exam from a U.S. doctor on an approved AIA physical form, available at the athletic office.
